Questions and answers
What you should know about OTO
Direct answers about the service, your information and the choices you control.
What is OTO Careers?
OTO Careers is a private career development service. It helps you maintain a career profile, record skills and professional development, explore possible career routes and prepare for focused coaching conversations.
Is OTO a recruitment agency?
No. OTO does not place candidates or promise employment. Its guidance is designed to help you understand your evidence, choices and development priorities.
Who controls my career profile?
You do. You review imported information and choose whether your profile is public, available only by link, private or switched off. Private coaching and wellbeing information is never shown on a public profile.
How does OTO use artificial intelligence?
OTO uses AI only for specific tasks you choose. Anthropic reads a CV you ask it to analyse and drafts your Pathways report from your confirmed profile. OpenAI answers Flourish coaching questions, with response storage turned off. Wellbeing information and connected Google or Microsoft records are not sent to AI providers, and nothing you share is used to train general-purpose AI models.
Where is my data stored?
Your career record, account and uploaded files are stored in London, and the servers that handle them also run in London. Some optional features, such as AI analysis and card payments, use providers outside the United Kingdom. The privacy notice lists each one and what is sent.
How is my data kept secure?
Connections use HTTPS and stored data is encrypted. The database only returns records an account is allowed to see, private files are reached through time-limited links, and connected-account credentials are encrypted separately. The security page explains this in more detail and how to report a problem.
What happens when I connect Google or Microsoft?
Connections are optional and permissions are requested separately. OTO stores encrypted credentials on the server and synchronises only the categories you approve. Calendar, email and file metadata remain private and are not used to train general purpose AI models.
What are OTO Life and OTO Assess?
OTO Life brings your agenda, goals, routines and wellbeing into one place with a voice companion. OTO Assess provides Teacher and Leadership Development Assessments through organisation assignments, with personalised reports for reflection, coaching and development planning. Individual access information is available on its separate pricing page. They are separate from OTO Careers.
How much does OTO Careers cost?
Foundation is free and includes your career record, shared CV and one monthly Career Check-in. Growth is £30 per year. Flourish includes bounded coaching and is £5 per month or £50 per year. OTO Life is a separate product.
What is included in the seven day trial?
The trial starts after your first pathways report and gives you every Growth feature for seven days. One trial coaching session becomes available on the final day. No card is required, the trial does not convert automatically and pathways are hidden after it ends unless you choose a paid plan. Your saved information is not deleted.
Can I keep using OTO Careers without paying?
Yes. After a trial or paid plan ends, Foundation keeps your career record, shared CV and one monthly Career Check-in available. Pathways, structured development tools and premium downloads require Growth or Flourish. Coaching requires Flourish.
Can I delete my account?
Yes. Account settings include an account deletion flow and a data export. Some minimal billing or consent records may need to be retained where the law requires it, as explained in the privacy notice.
How do I contact OTOvios?
Email support@otovios.com for product or account help, billing@otovios.com for payment questions, privacy@otovios.com for data requests and security@otovios.com for a compromised account or security concern.
What is OTO Assess?
OTO Assess uses professional scenarios to help teachers and leaders reflect on their decisions. Your report explores strengths, questions for reflection and development priorities. It is a starting point for coaching and professional development, rather than a judgement of your workplace performance.
Which assessments are available?
The Teacher Development Assessment has 80 scenarios across planning, instruction, assessment, culture and professional practice. The Leadership Development Assessment has 96 scenarios across observe, reflect, shape and create. You can complete either assessment or both when they have been assigned to you.
Do I need to pay if my organisation has assigned an assessment?
No. Your organisation provides access through its assessment allocation. Sign in using the assigned email address and open the assessment in your workspace. You do not need to purchase the same assessment yourself.
Is there a strict 60-minute time limit?
Allow around 60 minutes and aim to complete the assessment in one sitting. This is guidance rather than a hard cut-off. If you need more time, you can finish the assessment without losing your saved answers.
Who can read my report?
You can read your report. For an organisation assignment, authorised report administrators at that organisation can also view it. You acknowledge this arrangement before starting. An organisation assignment does not give that organisation access to your privately purchased reports or reports from other organisations.
Is this a validated psychometric test or a staff ranking?
No. OTO Assess is a professional development insight tool. Its response patterns describe choices made in scenarios, rather than measuring observed workplace performance. It should not be treated as a diagnosis, a staff league table or proof of suitability for a promotion.
